  1. I would think that would be the U.S. Federal government.

  2. In the world, no.

In England, no, I am but its a secret.

By the way "ryankneale" The U.S federal Gov. Is so not the largest land owner, hello Russia, China, Canada, just a few countrys with a tad more land.

  3. "these places come to mind, england, northern ireland, zimbabwe-rhodesia, australia, south africa, british honduras/belize, canada, india, hong kong, malta, gibraltar, falkland islands near argentina, ... look up flags of the world and see how many have a small british flag in the corner, like australia "

The Queen doesn't own any of these countries, they are all independent nations. Some of them belong to the British Commonwealth, but that is an association of countries, they are not owned by anyone.

The largest landowner is probably Mid-Eastern, possibly one of the Arab Emirates or Saudi Arabian.

  4. LAND VALUES-GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS

As of June 30, 1966, the world's largest land owner was the United States Government, with a holding of 765,291,000 acres (1,185,787 square miles) including 529,000 acres outside of the United States. The total value at cost was $69,357,000,000.

When Willem Verhulst bought Manhattan Island, New York, before June, 1626, by paying the Brooklyn Indians (Canarsees) with trinkets and cloth valued at 60 guilders (equivalent to $39), he was buying land now worth up to $425 per square foot for 0.2 of a cent per acre - a capital appreciation of 9,000,000,000-fold.

The greatest land auction ever was that on September 11, 1969, for 179 tracts of 450,858 acres of North Slope, Alaska. The highest single bid was one of $72,277,133 by Amerada Hess and Getty Oil.

The historic example of low land values is the Alaska Purchase of March 30, 1867, when William Henry Seward, the Secretary of State, agreed that the United States should buy the whole territory from the Russian Government of Czar Alexander II for $7,200,000 -- equivalent to 1.9 cents per acre.

  5. No, I would think that the Vatican is, as they own so many churches around the world. Yes, they most likely are the largest real estate magnate in the world.

  6. no

  7. if she's not, i bet she's not far away, check out an old map of the british empire of the world on google images,  these places come to mind, england, northern ireland, zimbabwe-rhodesia, australia, south africa, british honduras/belize, canada, india, hong kong, malta, gibraltar, falkland islands near argentina, ... look up flags of the world and see how many have a small british flag in the corner, like australia

  8. It depends on your interpretation of ownership - some people claim that all the land of all the countries in the commonwealth are OWNED by the queen, meaning the entire lands of the UK, Australia, NZ, Canada, and so on and so on, so in that sense, she is because that is A LOT! In another sense, she is one of, if not the, largest land owner, in competition with the Vatican, through the large amount of Crown land.
