  1. the number 7 train is crowed everyday, time makes no differences.

  2. I haven't lived in NYC for nearly ten years, but at that time, the Manhattan Bound 7 was NOT crowded at that late hour.  I would avoid it until 9:30 am and don't even think about coming back to Flushing between 4:00 and 6:00 pm unless you're into standing and crowds.  Good luck!

  3. The 7 trains will most likely be pretty full, but not crowded at that hour.  You will be getting on at the terminal (1st stop), so you will have your choice of seats.  The trip into Times Square (the last stop) is about 20 minutes on an express train (yes, there are still expresses at 11:30 am on weekdays) or 35 mins on a local.  There are no express trains on weekends.  Fares are $2 (though some special passes are available -- see http://www.mta.info/metrocard/mcgtreng.h... kids under 44" tall ride free.

There is also the LIRR (Long Island Railroad), which runs to Penn Station in Manhattan.  The trip is about 20 minutes.  It's generally more expensive, but on a Saturday or Sunday, you can get a special "City Ticket" for $3 (see http://www.mta.info/mta/cityticket.htm), which is only $1 more than the subway, kids 5-11 are just 75 cents, and kids under 5 yrs old are free, which is a big savings if you're coming with a family.

Welcome to Queens!  I'm in Flushing often, so if you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to email me.
