Question:

Is the Rome 2008 Crail not suitable for girls one bit?

I'm almost about to buy it at this point, but I was just wondering if anyone can give me a reason not to. I'm intermediate, mainly a freerider, but I'm probably going to try freestyle this year, I'm 5'5.5 120 pounds. &I know it's well rated for mountain riding, which is pretty much exactly what I need. Does anyone think the board might be too wide or perhaps too heavy? I hope not:/ but for the sake of me buying a board I think I'll be able to ride, some insight might be useful. I don't want to make the mistake of overestimating my capability of riding this board.

  1. Well I hope I'm not too late in the response to this.. First off great choice with the Rome, it's definitely the way to go! If you are getting the 147 Crail, you will very most likely be just fine, it is definitely going to be heavier than a womens board, I'm not sure why you would pick this board maybe for the graphics, which is never the best idea haha, don't get me wrong its a great board, and you will probably be just fine on it, if you haven't purchased it yet, I'd recommend checking out a womens Rome, lighter, flexier, and will probably be easier for you to control. I'd say check out the Rome Detail, thats what I ride, its sick, I wouldn't ride any other board, its pretty much a very park board, and that is mostly what I ride too, but I do like to have fun on other runs and such, and it works just fine! If you are thinking you wont be riding that much park, and wouldn't like it [even though its got sick graphics, and the flex and weight is perfect] I'd say check out the Rome Vinyl It'd pretty much be right inbetween the Crail and the Detail, 50% park 50% Free ride and lighter than the Crail.. Hope this helped in making your decision!

  2. I am probably not going to be of much help, but I was asking the same questions a while ago about a board I was buying that was a male's board (Burton Custom). I am 5'5.5 and 125 lbs, intermediate rider, mostly freeride and some park so we are very similar. I was iffy about if the board would be too much for me to handle/a lot heavier than a woman's. If the length is under 150ish cm I'm sure it won't be wider than any other board. The plus about having the men's board is it is super stable when going fast down the mt.! I haven't tried many female boards but after a few days I grew to looove my board as it could slice through anything and never slide out or any of that.

As for the specs about this board I am no help. But just wanted to share my 2 cents!
