Is the Russian war in any way a threat?

The recent war broken out between Russia and Georgia, is it in any way at all threatening to Europe or the US?

The USA sponsored Georgian army, so the only threat to the USA - it will loose its money.

And if Europe and the USA will understand that Russia isn't a puppy and has its own interests, there is no direct danger for them.

Let's just respect each other.

it seems a lot of people should do some research or get a clue before going on about this. I havn't heard any legitimate info on this subject, not that there is a legitimate news source for us to check. But all I've heard is conjecture and hype. In fact one source said that Russia is "keeping the peace" and fulfilling a UN mandate to restore stability to that country. A UN peacekeeping role like darfur or any of our proxy wars in Africa. There seem to be some Americans who miss the good ole days of Rocky 5 and want to stand toe to toe with Ivan again. It's fun to have a worthy nemesis. Smacking around rock throwing arabs just don't impress the ladies like Chuck Norris used to do it.
