ok my GPA as of now is 4.17 , i have over 3 different classes that i have college credit in. I have a pretty good resume with plenty of outside stuff to back myself up with, my problem is that my sat scores suck ive taken twice and i the first was 1030 (verbal and math) and the second was 1060, i really want a 1200 at least to get in Hopkins but is that even feasible right now?

  1. If you want to get into Johns Hopkins, your SAT score is probably imperative. Colleges typically use those scores to see how much you've learned overall (though your GPA and course schedule is still the most important), since the content in the classes varies in difficulty.

What I would suggest is maybe getting a few study guides, like the one from the College Board, and take the test again.

  2. Take a prep class. Really do. A better score is feasible, and from your description, you need a good score. No offense.

  3. ACT/SAT is not a HUGE deal but it definitely is a factor in getting into college. Your GPA, courses, essays, and outside activities are more important though. but if the SAT you took was out of 2400, i would suggest retaking.

  4. To be honest it really depends. My ACT score really isn't what i want it to be, but since i am ranked number 1 in my class, do sports year round, and in numerous activities it weighs out. Ypu seem like you are in the same boat. I would study more for the SAT and if i were you i would even try the ACT you never know. But studying more will hopefully get you a better score, and if not, then with all the stuff your doing, it might even get you into the college.

  5. is this out of 2400?

anyway...you took it twice already...if u want, take it one last time, but 3 times is enough. good luck=D

if u think ur scores are low...try thinking about some extracurricular activities. specialize in something, but do a lot of other things.

all in all, SAT and ACT scores are not terribly important, perhaps the most important is your personal statement. THAT shows you who you really are, not how nerdy or how much you study. besides, SAT and ACT can't possibly show how smart you are anyway

good luck though hope this helps

  6. its a huge thing without u cant get a good job a good college u should study a bit more so u can go to Hopkins

  7. yes, the SAT and ACT are a big deal, but it sounds like you have a lot of other credentials right now. maybe hopkins wouldn't care if you have a 1200 or higher, just try applying and see what they think. if they want your test scores higher, take some tutoring sessions and stuff to get a higher score. good luck!

  8. well yes i tells wheir u will work its a big deal :D

  9. To sum this up, a decent score is essential to get into a college like JHU. Simply, they need to know you can make it through the program. A good GPA is most important, but lets face it, a lot of high schools have severe grade inflation. A good score that confirms the ability shown by your grades is key. Even a 1200 on CR and math is unlikely to get you into Hopkins.

The first thig I'd do is try the ACT, many who are good in specific subjects do better on it. I would seek the best affordable tutoting for these tests. Do practice tests every chance you get and just will your way to better scores. Good luck!
