  1. The SONA is an event that no President can skip. It is not the president's decision whether or not to do it, or when and where to do the SONA. That, my friends, is how we should look at the SONA.

Opinions about what is said by the president vary greatly depending on one's political leanings. Given that the sitting president is not popular, and the surveys attest to that unpopularity, it is not unexpected that the majority would sneer at most or all of what she says. In fact, it is expected that the majority will trash the whole event itself.

The SONA is also what Cory did on her first year as president. No one said it was a fashion event, nor a narration of broken promises.

Unfortunately, GMA now does not even approximate a fifth of Cory's magic in those days.

  2. formal speech about the present Status of the Philippines as a whole. The present and future problem, the past improvement. ane the present and future development.

Don't just blame the president, Blame the system. the problem remains even you try to change the president or any high official.

other country changed their economy, we voted lots of good looking politicians. The problem remains.

  3. it's like the FAMAS nite of philippine politics.

  4. Both. Look, one congressman even dressed like a tribesman! This is one of those times where those officials spend their money on those drag-queenesque suits just to brag about their richness.

  5. It is neither a fashion event nor broken promises. It is merely a vision of every Filipino to uplift the lives of the poor.

Let us not be negative on what the government is trying hard to do for us. Let each of us do our own share. The President alone or even the Senate and Congress cannot do what is best for all Filipinos. It is only within ourselves that we can somehow improve our lives. Let us not always depend on the government or any politician. Let us not put blame on anyone. There's only us to be blamed for the poverty that we see around us.

  6. a little bit of both. good thing its once a year only.

  7. And more...

It is an absurd and pointless event verging on the farcical.  And people sneer at every word she said, which is insulting!

  8. and how about the woman who was very serious to interview on tv but i was kept being distracted by her glittery hair.

Its the talk of VAT. all over again.

  9. it's an event where her supporters get their hands numb from clapping
