I might need the public def assistance, I called today and the crappy clerk wouldnt give me any info "until we're assigned". Should i just ask to borrow money for a "real attorney"?

  1. I think all official red tapes are the same in North America. Depending on the degree of seriousness of your matter, some cases you needn't to have a lawyer. If you can dig out something from a detailed law book with examples similar to your case. You can represent yourself and win.

  2. Unwittingly,I used a public def.on a minor "no problem?" Seems that a pub. def . is the same as pleading "guilty"/ the pub. def. is supposedly get you a lighter charge?or sent.Guess What? Get an APPOINTED LAYWER.Especially if you r INNOCENT.Pro-bono lawyers are availible.Ask for one. They want to win.The PD gets paid by same office as prosecurtor...Wish u well...oldgold123

  3. I would definitely try to get your own attorney, especially if it's for something serious, it could make a huge difference. on the other hand, if it's not that serious, you might want to meet th epublic defender first, and see if you feel comfortable with him/her. If not, then get your own.
