I am thinking about getting at 1250 watt home theater set made by Panasonic but I'm not sure if its compatible with the Sony Bravia 42 inch. Do you have to buy a Sony 1000 watt Bravia Home theater set for it can be compatible or can I continue to buy the Panasonic equipment.

  1. The brands do not have to be the same for them to work together or to work well. The advantage of having the same brands, say all Sony, is the remote works better for all the systems so you do not have to program the universal remote or one of the brands remote. When looking for Home theater setup, make sure the speakers sound good to you. Listen to the system and if you are satisfied, then get it.

I will attach some recomended home theater in a box from Home Theater Magazine>

  2. You don't need to match the brands.  The Panasonic will work fine with the Sony TV, and is probably a cheaper set than the Sony one anyways (Sony loves to charge for its brand name...)
