  1. Is the english spoken in the United States, Australia, South Africa, etc different than in England, Ireland or Scotland??

Of course it's different. Speakers can understand each other (not always) but there are gramatical, semantical and pronounciation differences... like in english speaking countries, portuguese speaking countries, french speaking countries, etc.

  2. They have different accents.

    Spain and Columbia speak Castillian

  3. Ultimately, the Spanish spoken in Mexico or Colombia in comparison to the Spanish spoken in Spain varies minimally--in the sense that the Spanish can be understood by both sides in both spoken and written dialogue.

However, the most commonly recognized differences are:

    Latin American Spanish (Mexico; Colombia):

    - Use of seseo (The letters "c" and "z" resemble the letter "s" in English words such as salt, sand, and soap.)

Ex. Corazón and conocer have an English "s" sound.

    Castellano (Spain):

    - Use of ceceo (The letters "c" and "z" resemble the combined letters "th" in English words such as mouth, theory, and thorn.)

Ex. Corazón, conocer have an English "th" sound.

Also, Spain has the use of "Vosotros" which is an informal plural form of "You" whereas Mexico and Colombia use "Ustedes for both formal and informal "You".

Ex. (Mexico, Colombia) "Es como quieren ustedes dos."

Ex. (Spain informal) "Es como queréis vosotros dos."

Ex. (Spain formal) "Es como quieren ustedes dos."

The best way to describe the differences as a whole is to consider it this way: English in America is still English in the United Kingdom, but with regional differences and an alternative lexicon. Spanish in Latin America is still Spanish in Spain, but with those same differences.

So to finally answer your question, not too different. :)

  4. yes...many words are diferent

    and in mexico is: callense
