They've lost their bottle. They should have thought it through & either done it straight away or not done it at all. Dropping hints to test the reaction is the stupidest thing they could have done !

It's another dither that is slowing down what housing market there is as people wait to find out what exactly is going on.

As useful as those HIPS, what buyer doesn't have to pay for surveys etc for their mortgage provider?  Most buyers would want their own reports anyhow.

Also it just defers payment as I understand it.  So will the sum stay the same or gather interest?

Yes!This is another of those Labour Party fiasco's where they cannot make their minds up what to do!No wonder the electorate has lost patience and confidence in the failures!

Sorry, but how's this a fiasco?

The press have made up some stories and the government have pointed this out, and said they are still looking at the issue.

While we can reasonably suppose that the government response will be ineffective and late, could we at least wait until we know what that response is?
