  1. Kuomintang is legal government of all China!  Long live Chinag Kai Shek!

  2. It depends largely on who's viewpoint you are coming from.  The Chinese do recognize that the Taiwanese do have a working government.  They do not recognize that it is sovereign or as a seperate governmental entity, but they recognize it.  The US view, on the other hand, is a big question mark.  They recognize Taiwan, but only in certain instances.  It is certainly the right of the Taiwanese government to speak for its people and not that of mainland China.  Remember, for a long time in the early years of the UN, the Taiwanese government represented the entire Chinese nation.

  3. Ask the people of Taiwan. If they wish to be one with the PRC by popular mandate, then so be it. The mainland PRC may lay claim to sovereignty over their traditional lands by historical 'right' but it it is the wishes of these indigenous inhabitants of that island that have the higher sovereignty. Does the appalling record of the PRC on human rights in their own country and Tibet or their blocking of humanitarian intervention in Darfur in the Sudan suggest that the Taiwanese people would get  a fair deal under reunification- I think not!

Consider this..were we in Beijing, say, would we actually be able to even discuss this matter?
