Is the Tropicana Cafe good to eat at? What sort of food and do they show short movies there?

Tropicana is my local cafe and serves some great food, including breakfast until 4pm which is handy for the day after a big night before. Great coffee too! If you're like me you'll need more than one cup so remember that you can get a large coffee in a mug even though that's not on the menu. The good thing about the food is that you can feel to name your own ingredients to make your own toasted foccaccia/turkish bread or have one of their specials. Then there's pastas, salads and specials.

Even though Tropfest did start at Tropicana they don't show short films regularly but they do have quite a few large plasma screen TVs so there's always something to watch. But it's a better place to watch the people go by!

I don't think they show movies there anymore like they used to.  I checked the website and couldn't find the info.  Now that Tropfest has gone so big there isn't room in there!

The Tropicana has been around since 1980 and is one of those gems in Sydney.  People from all walks of life eat and drink there, and of course, it is the birthplace of Tropfest, a short film festival now screened in front of 130,000 across venues in Australia and now on the international stage at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

The menu is Italian based and you can choose from over 50 pasta dishes, meat or vego foccaccias, meat dishes like scalllopine, salads, soups, and a popular breakfast menu.

They are now licensed, but you can BYO, amazingly with no corkage fees.  This is a restaurant that truly cares about its diners enjoying their dining experience.

It's open from 5am - 11pm.  I love the whole experience of going there and people watching, not just the food and drink.
