Is the Tulum shore excursion from Royal Caribbean worth the money?

My family of 5 is pretty interested in seeing the Tulum ruins when the Enchantment of the Seas stops in Cozumel on our cruise. However, the tour is $99 a person, meaning for the family to go, we'd be forking out over 500 dollars? Can anyone who has been on the excursion tell me if its truly worth it? Thanks.

(Also, any details about the tour would be greatly appreciated as well.

My husband and I just went to Tulum in May.  A large part of the ruins were roped off.  You could take some stairs down the cliff and get in the water or walk along the beach.  The best part was the tour guide who knew so much of the rich history of the Mayans.  The worst part was the boat ride from Cozumel to Playa Del Carmen.  Many of the people became ill.  It is an all day trip so we thought the excursion price was worth it.

If you want to go to Tulum from Cozumel, I would definitely do it with the ship's excursion.  It's a very long trip and you don't want to get left behind by being late getting back to the ship.  I know some people who went several years ago and said it was beautiful, but the ship we were on dropped people off near Playa del Carmen, so the trip wasn't as long.

You definitely want to have motion sickness meds for the ferry over to and back from PDC, from what I've read.  You will not have time to do anything else in Coz, unless you are in port past the late afternoon.

I cant say about the tour but from A Lot of experience.. buying on the cruise isnt always the "Worth" it.  But buying from the cruise does offer protection and the time fits to.

So its up to you.
