After 9/11 the U. S. banned together and supported eachother in way beyond the call of duty. Now we find Americans at constant oposition. Sometimes it seems only for entertainment. Why does it take disaster for us to come together as a nation and what does this mean for our future as a country?

  1. America was built on open differences, it wasn' t until WWII that The US unified behind a war, even during the civil war  there were people opposed to Lincoln.   So nothing has really changed in our hundreds of years of existence.

  2. I don't know but that is true. when 911 happened, I remember lots of people flying flags from their cars, people wearing t shirts proud to be american...it kind of spurred alot of patriotism, but then it wore off and we are back to where we were before 911, if not worse off because of the war in iraq. Like I feel more people wre patriotic immediately following 911, as compared to the time of Iraq war. In fact most people I talk to are disgusted at the war and the number of soldiers dying.

  3. Unfortunately, the "coming together" thing was pleasantly ABnormal. The opposition is simply America "back to normal."

  4. No

  5. No we are not doomed, just in a stupor for the last seven years we'll get it together if we elect the right president.

  6. America is the greatest country in the world and will be for years to come. We may fight amongst ourselves but when we are threatened we will come together and defend this country at all costs.

Misguided policy and high taxes can weaken our economy and waste our resources. It's important that people realize that there are those in this world that want us all dead and will do all they can to bring that about. Our best defense against our enemies is a strong economy, productive workforce and the greatest military on the planet.

Remember that when you vote. Vote in the interests of the USA, not your own personal gain.

  7. Since the Egyptian Pharaohs to Lenin's communist paradise all big powers disintegrated. Perhaps the US will survive as the leading democracy in mankind's history.

  8. IN ALL COUNTRIES IT IS LIKE THAT- PEOPLE ARE BORN TO THINK DIFFERENTLY AFTER ALL THEY DO NOT HAVE COMPUTER CHIPS IN THEIR BRAINS. IT IS THE NATIONAL SPRIT WHICH BRINGS THEM TOGETHER AT ADVERSE TIMES WHICH IS ESSENTIAL FOR THE NATION. BUT AMERICA HAS MADE POWERFUL BLUNDERS - VIETNAM/IRAN/IRAQ/PAKISTAN/IRAQ...

SO THERE IS LOT OF RESENTMENT - GUNS ALWAYS DO NOT GET YOU WHAT YOU WANT AND NEITHER DOES MONEY BUY YOU LOVE..IT IS ONLY LOVE/RESPECT WHICH BEGET LOVE/RESPECT.

  9. If we're broaching this subject, I believe that in the long run, we are all doomed.

The world is on a slippery slope and our leaders are too stupid to stop it.
