  1. Google can be your friend. But here are a lot of articles you can read:

But personally ethanol is a wasted bio-fuel. It takes so much more energy to produce ethanol then ethanol produces energy. All ethanol is going to do is cost corn prices to go up thus increasing our costs at the super market and ethanol gas costs.

  2. Well, it requires agricultural land to produce ethanol, so that's a given...

  3. No, it is not.

If links are what you are looking for, i can provide with a multitude of them.

But I think this one will give you the most info ( it is a recent 8 page report put out by the US Corn Growers) explaining:

[ This paper examines the “food versus fuel” fallacy and provides accurate information

and verifiable data to refute the notion that corn growers will face an “either-or”

dilemma when marketing their grain. As they have done for decades, U.S. corn

growers will continue to be reliable suppliers of both food AND fuel. ]

The last page of the report cites dozens of reliable sources & links too.

There is a lot of propaganda out there about this subject, mostly (I think) put out there by the oil companies.

They would like us to think that useing,  producing, researching, & advocating 'alternatives' to THEIR product will be the end of the world. I don't buy the propaganda.

I believe that we need to have alternatives and that we are entitled to make our own choices. In order to make good choices we need to educate ourselves from every angle.

I have researched the subject of ethanol for years.

    I am 'pro-choice'.

I'll provide you with a few more links.(below)..but i think the one above is the most current, helpful, truthful, & accurate

  4. yes it is. now instead of growing for food we are growing for fuel. The government also gives money and tax breaks to those that choose to grow for fuel.

  5. Here is what people don't understand about corn. Most of the corn grown in this country is field corn. This is used primarily for livestock feed. Sweet corn is what people buy at the store as in corn on the cob or canned corn. While field corn is used in products such as corn flakes, even at 7.00 dollars a bushel there is about .10 cents worth of corn in whole box. Currently ther is only about 12 to 17 percent of the entire corn crop going into ethanol production. The rise in food prices is due mainly right now to transportation cost increases, not ethanol production.Politicians and the grocery industry are using ethanol as an excuse. To answer the question, no,it has little to nothing to do with food costs.
