Is the real estate as a whole (residential, commercial & industrial) climbing back up? will it settle around it's peek, slightly lower, or higher than before the downfall?

The reason why I'm asking is that I want to buy stock in a real estate income fund. they seem to be climbing back up slowly after they plunged to almost half the cost per share in mid July.

  1. Check to see if the price of your fund roughtly tracks the recent slide and subsequent rise of the market as a whole and of the financial sector in particular.

If it does, and it probably does, then IMO the market will have another leg down and those lows will be breached. If this happens, your fund too will drop. What's really important--the relative strength of your fund visavis the rest of the market. If your fund is stronger than the market--that is, it holds up better in a market decline-- then it's a really good sign that when the overall market makes a final low your fund will outperform.
