She is a sophomore in Valley High.. and extremely talented... just because shes a little short doesn't mean shes 10. You ppl are so annoying. And if Shawn Johnson sees what youre saying don't you think she would be offended?

nope i don't think so. :) no offense but i'd rather look younger than I am then older. my cousin is 10 & she actually looks her age but thats just what I think.

yeah shes a lil short

but that helps gymnasts

its harder the taller you are cuz u have to be more aware of how long ur legs are and how short of time u have to grab them to do flips and land them

1) h**l no.

2) Gymnastics stunts your growth because it requires the use of all your muscles at such a young age.

3) We're some of Shawn's friends from back in Des Moines and she definitely looks her age when her hair is down and makeup is done.  She does not look 10.  Stop being disrespectful.

The US does not manufacture passports after the fact, plus there are birth certificates on file where she was born.

Did her age suddenly change to 16 the way He Kexin's did?

From the New York Times:

"In Chinese newspaper profiles this year, He was listed as 14, too young for the Beijing Games.

"The Times found two online records of official registration lists of Chinese gymnasts that list He’s birthday as Jan. 1, 1994, which would make her 14. A 2007 national registry of Chinese gymnasts — now blocked in China but viewable through Google cache — shows He’s age as '1994.1.1.'

"Another registration list that is unblocked, dated Jan. 27, 2006, and regarding an 'intercity' competition in Chengdu, China, also lists He’s birthday as Jan. 1, 1994. That date differs by two years from the birth date of Jan. 1, 1992, listed on He’s passport, which was issued Feb. 14, 2008."

China's People's Daily newspaper stating He Kexin's age as 14 on May 23, 2008:

"Olympic gymnastics title contenders suddenly have one more thing to worry about other than the eight gold medals China claimed at the Tianjin World Cup last week. Her name is He Kexin.

"The 14-year-old newcomer to the national team, who was recruited last year, has raised a lot of eyebrows recently after she broke two world records on the uneven bars in as many months. She will be just one more weapon on an already star-studded Chinese Olympic squad."

Gymnasts always look younger! It is often due to the development of their muscles and bodies and their smaller stature. The American gymnasts' documents are consistent regarding their age. The issue with a couple of the Chinese women is that there are discrepancies among some of their paperwork and reports in the media. Some of the reports and documents have them being younger than 16. That's why they are dealing with that controversy.
