  1. I think you could argue that the United Kingdom and the EU are giving America a run for its money economically, given the US dollar's weakness against the euro and the rapid loss of consumer confidence in the states.

And while China's economy is growing in leaps and bounds right now, I'm not too worried. While their economy is more hands-off than the USSRs, I simply don't think that communism is a viable political and economic system in today's world.

  2. Yes the U.S. is mostly only because other countries haven't tried to take the title. China alone outnumbers us a lot but we have the cooler weapons. though there was that recent news story where our Navy was doing an elaborate war game out in the water (in our water) and a Chinese submarine popped up in the middle of it. They said "uh oops we are lost, sorry" and left. But we had the game surrounded by our battleships with radar on and the Chinese slipped by undetected. Some think it was a subtle FU to the US. Also India is getting a lot of technology, and Korea, and Russia, and they all hate us. so if they banded together we would be screwed. Worried? not really. It could happen but i don't think it will. I could also get stabbed waiting in line at Starbucks, probably more likely too.

  3. Yes, the U.S. is still the most dominant, powerful and influential country on the planet, and will likely remain so for at least another 50 years, if not longer.

I'm an American and, no, I am not worried.

  4. Worried, absolutely.  NAFTA has allowed millions of manufacturing jobs to be exported to countries like china, and as long as their products enter the US via Mexico, or Canada, Tariffs cannot be levied to equalize the labor inequalities.

When you consider that the only reason the US is a world power is because of its manufacturing capabilities during the 1940s, 50s and 60s, expect the trend to be reversed.

  5. Worried about what? The Chinese have never shown any desire to expand outside of their traditional lands...it's westerners that have this obsession with crusades and conquests and colonies. And American is going broke and destroying everything that is great about America with its overseas adventures, the sooner they end the better. The founding fathers are spinning in their graves at what this country has become.
