  1. ONLY WHEN AMERICANS DRIFTS AWAY FROM HER FOUNDING IDEAL, ONLY THEN CAN WE SAY SHE IS UNDEMINDING HER SOVERIGNTY. NOT THE UN!.

WHEN YOU SPY ON YOUR CITIZENS.

WHEN YOU DETAIN YOUR CITIZENS WITHOUT DUE PROCESS.

WHEN YOUR ECONOMY IS IN EXPANSION WITH RECORD PROFITS FOR BUSINESSES AND JUMBO BENEFITS FOR CEO's, WHILE FACTORIES ARE BEING UNBLOTED AND SHIPED TO TAIWAN, MEXICO AND ELSEWHERE.

WHEN CHINA IS PICKING UP THE TABS FOR YOUR  ILL ADVICED WAR IN IRAQ, DEBTS FOR YOUR CHILDREN YET UNBORN TO PAYBACK.

WHEN YOUR POLITICIANS CANNOT SEEM TO AGREE ON COMMON SENSE POLICIES TO PROVIDE HEALTH CARE FOR CITIZENS, COMBAT CRIME, CONTROL GUN USE AND OWNNERSHIP.

WHEN AMERICA'S LEADERS CANNOT SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN HER STANDPOINT ON ISSUES TO THE REST OF THE WORLD, SO AS GO GAIN SUPPORT FOR MULTILATERAL EFFORTS TO FACE THE CHALLENGES OF TERRORISM AND NUCLEAR WEAPONS IN THE HANDS OF COUNTRIES LIKE IRAN AND SYRIA.

THE UN CAN ONLY HELP PROVIDE A PEDESTAL FOR AMERICA'S VIEW, BUT THE STUTTERING DIPLOMACY FROM YOUR STATE DEPT. AND WHITEHOUSE IS NOT HELPING. THE WORLD IS WAITING FOR AMERICA TO LEAD AGAIN.

  2. The UN considers itself above the law of mere nations. And it answers to no one. There is no vote on UN leaders (other than by the culprits themselves). There is no international referendum on its policies. The UN sets its own standards of conduct and it controls its own judge and jury. These, of course, are the very reasons why many have opposed U.S. membership in the UN. And it’s why many have feared the UN gaining any sort of power to gain its own ability to tax, field an army, or create a court system. Possessing these three powers drastically changes the UN from a volunteer membership organization to a global governing body.

  3. Yes.

    My 2 cents.

  4. It is if Obama wins the American presidency, since he wants Americans to pay taxes to it.

  5. That's funny. No, the UN is just a waste of money and a waste of space in NYC.

  6. YEs

  7. No, not anymore.  They turned out to be a "paper tiger".  I believe they started out that way, but they were lead by weak people who couldn't pull it off.

I think the greatest threat to American sovereignty is the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America.  This will effectively erase the borders with Canada, the US and Mexico.  Thus, rendering the Constitution null and void.

  8. the UN barely has any power

  9. No, the UN is a paper tiger which serves the most brutal African, Asian and Muslim dictators. But the UN has no power to harm the USA.

  10. Not very likely...they can't even do anything decisive on no-brainer atrocities that cry out for collective international action. If they are no threat to the Sudanese leadership that continues its racist pogroms in Darfur or the Burmese generals who will not take the necessary steps to enable international aid for cyclone victims, what has the USA to worry about?!

  11. Theoretically? Yes

But the US doesn't care... They think they can do anything they want....

  12. The wording of this question (namely the use of the word "threat") shows that you are not thinking about the issue of the place of the UN in the international system in an objective manner. Would you consider, for instance, "threatening" to US sovereignty an international criminal tribunal, under the auspices of the UN, whose job it would be to bring dictators to trial for crimes committed against humanity? Do you think that it is more important for states to defend their narrow self-interest than to promote a universal legal code that would ensure that the democratic and liberal values that Americans hold dear are propagated through peaceful and respectable means (i.e. through legal authority rather than military might)?
