  1. US is a party to the International Criminal Court because it is one of the beneficiaries due to its influence in world affairs.

  3. The signed in December of 2000, but in 2002 they officially unsigned. Big disappointment for a country largely based on human rights.

    The USA signed on to the  ICC in 2002 and signed off the same year because of the "Rome Statute" which says the ICC will deal with only crimes, autrosities, genocides, and all human rights violations  etc., AFTER 2002.  Israel also joined the USA in signing OFF.

    It pulled out when the rules made it possible for people to try and get US citizens and combattants tried internationally for war crimes.

    Given that 'war crimes' are entirely subjective, US and others pulled out before idiots started calling for Bush to be arrested etc. to further their foreign agendas.
