  1. No. We dont feed the christians to the lions.

    yet.

  2. It most certainly is; The more liberal and tolerant the Roman empire became, the more it lost it's power.

  3. Read the book, "We Are Rome".

I apologize that I do not know the author's name by memory.

Rome started military conquest to "Defend themselves and their Values"  Then, as the most powerful Empire, rivaled only by Han China, they suffered from complacency and an over reliance on foreign soldiers.  In the end, Rome split in two, East and West, later to be called the Holy Roman Empire and Byzantium. Though the Holy Roman Empire was actually a plethora of Germanic peoples.  Rome could not unify, so it fell apart.  All these people who claim Liberal and Conservative, never think about the fact that as Americans, we should work together, not draw battle lines.

    "A house divided cannot stand."

    Abraham Lincoln

    Are we Rome, yes.

  4. No, not yet.    The Romans knew what to do with an "unpopular" Emperor, and weren't shy about it.

The American people seem to put up with just about anything, like a herd of sheep.    Perhaps there will be a limit,

    we'll see....................

  5. Many similarities can be made between the United States and the Roman Republic (before Julius Caesar and the Empire).  Both nations elected a legislative body to enact laws.  Both nations had an administrative body to enforce laws (U.S. has the president and Rome had a Tribunal, usually generals).  However thanks to rampant liberalism they United States is very much like the Roman Empire in one very important way, the United States has become decadent, like the Roman Empire before its collapse, and if we continue our liberal downward spiral we, like the Roman Empire, will fall.

  6. I don't think so - Romans were much more liberated, with men commonly having sexual relationships with other men as well as their wives - they could even marry. It's taking us a long time to get around to that kind of liberal thought.

And of course, the Romans relied heavily on slavery to keep their economy going - I don't think that would work here.

Oh yes, and the Olympics were limited to male atheletes, who performed naked. I can't see that catching on either.

  7. No, maybe Byzantine but not Roman. We have trained professional soldiers while Rome had a pick up army in a sense they took people from the places they conquered to fill in their ranks.

  8. The U.S. is isolationist, and the Roman Empire was expansionist.  Therefore, no.

  9. yes... i beleive that personally because presidents have diesd in the us the same way as the HRE. and i thin that the united states is having bad leaders like the HRE. so yes to answer your question. lol
