Is the United States doomed?

The European Union has combined the economic power of many countries which has now most certainly set about to defeat the United States as the world dominant economic power. We as a country are screwed. Our standard of living sucks. The dollar is dying. The Euro will be the reserve currency within 2 years. The dollar will crash to 25 percent of Euro value. We are a defeated nation. We are hated, despised everywhere. Being an American is synonymous with being arrogantly stupid. I for one and not proud to be an American. It is quickly becoming a curse. We have gone from the envy of the world to the laughing stock of the world. The rest of the world enjoys our misery. And I don't blame them.

the whole world should turn against Bush, if we all come toghther, we can fight the evil leader and save U.S and the world. Americans hate Bush too, your not alone!!!!!

What you guys who say "leave!" don't understand is not that we hate America. We are lamenting the fact that we were better off as a country 40-50 years ago, and that we are heading backwards rather than forward. And, what's worse, the direction that the country is headed in can be changed - and it's not being changed. We are broke, upset, and we feel betrayed. Is it a crime to feel that way? Does everyone who states the obvious deserve to be banished to Canada? In case you hadn't noticed, only about 17% of the country is satisfied with where we're headed. Why do you have to make "leave!" comments? can't you respond with some kind of sensible argument? Or are you so blind that you won't face the truth?

Its okay to be concerned.  As a citizen we can help promote change and awareness of the past failures.  Going forward we need to be strong and united.  You can start by voting for Obama in November and help get this country back on track.

You are right, i'm italian and i live in italy and i can say that i think american are arrogant and stupid. I think the worst about US today.

But i can't forgive when you arrive in europe during the second world war and you saved us from the nazism. i can't forgive and the image of americans in my heart will be always that, good people that helped us and rebuilt europe.

But now, how much you have changed. I hope not all the americans are as the people of wall street. Please, return to be the u.s. old style!
