  1. The United States is just going through recession as of this moment.  It doesn't necessarily mean that the U.S. is gonna fall like Rome :/

  2. The Romans had an empire, US don't have any.

  3. Like Rome did, the US is trying to dominate and colonise the rest of the world. Its greed could well be its downfall - it simply cannot sustain the level of expenditure on its wars. At home, its own people are suffering financially. The US needs to put right the ills of its own society and stop interfering in other countries because of the greed of the rich Americans.

  4. Eventually, yes.

On the long run, nothing lasts forever. On the short run, the answer depends on two issues: how will it react on the ending of the Oil Economy Era, and will it succeed to free itself from a very unpopular role of the only superpower.

Sure, there is NATO, but one must ask if all the members are really supporting USA wholeheartedly or only when dragged along. The readiness of the USA to act unilaterally, and not to respond to international community as is case in its unreadiness to present their soldiers to international war-crime courts,  can destroy what is left of solidarity wiithin NATO. No one, not even the United States can stand alone against tha whole world.

  5. No. Rome was surrounded by barbarians so when it lost power,  what replaced it was a much lower level of civilization. The US will lose it's dominants of the world but  it will have little effect on the level of civilization. A better analogy  would be the loss of power of Britain.
