Is the University of East Anglia the authority on Global Warming?

I bet not a single person here every heard of the place nor is anyone familiar with their research. Course today we are all suppose to take heed of some OPINION someone from that University authored on the "Tipping Point" in the global weather patterns and ecology.

Is this the "science" that builds the foundation of the Global Warming Arguement?

Ive heard of it, i believe it is in Norwich, England. it is quite a prestigious Uni and is ranked well within the top 200 in the world.

NO - I believe this is the type of "Science" that is the foundation of AGW.

I have come across them before, and even have a friend studying there.

Just because you have not heard of them- does not mean they are not good.

You probably haven't heard of Warwick( where I am) but its 7th! and definitley an authority on anything it chooses to study.

I don't think you need to be too clever to be an AGW researcher.  It's not like you have to prove your findings by having them come true in your own lifetime.  

The new buzzword is tipping point which is great for AGW researchers because they don't require any verifiable signs to happen or predictions to come true, everyone carries on as normal and one day, disaster movie style, we will all of a sudden be frying or drowning (maybe even boiling in acidic seawater).

Yes. They are. The climate can't change without first consulting the Dean of East Anglia.

I got a laugh out of that propaganda piece too.

I just have to wonder how dumb these alarmists think people are. This is just more proof that so-called "scientists" will do or say anything for grant money and attention. It's pathetic.

They've published pure garbage in the past with the now humiliated, disgraced propagandist Michael Mann.

Obviously they are one authority working in conjuction with the rest of the worlds climate scientists.  So what!  

I suppose we are to assume that you are an authority on climate science, so you're ridiculous criticism is supposed to mean something.

How is it that you are such an expert on the science of global climate that you feel that the real scientists are just pulling off some kind of grand hoax or whatever absurd scenario you believe in .

  You're assumptions are just that. Absurd assumptions that are nothing but a belief system.

Go back to listening to the rantings of the right wing hate talk radio shows, you'll feel more at home there.  It's more on your level of understanding.  

Oh, am I ranting, I guess I am. Now I understand why the issue of global warming isn't being heard in America.  Too many people listening to talk radio shows that spout half truths to the unaware.

I read the article and didn't find one word that was overly alarming in it's intent.  In fact it seemed quite moderate.  

You know, scientists recently found out that the ice on Greenland is melting much faster than predicted just a few years ago.  The article was just saying that these things can sneak up on us, just like the accelerated melting in Greenland has done.  

  You just attack every word about global warming without even thinking.  In fact what you are doing isn't thinking at all.  You are just reacting out of your cherished beliefs.  And they aren't even your beliefs, they are borrowed from someone else with an axe to grind.  You are a dupe of those who don't want anything done about the environmental devastation that is apparent to anyone with eyes to see.   Not just global warming, if you don't believe it, that's your choice.

But not to see that we are destroying our environment everywere is just plain unawareness.  It is obvious to any elementary school  child.  They don't have their heads full of political ideologies that prevent them from seeing what is right in front of them.

You lose your bet.  It's a well known research university in the UK.  Anyone that's read very much about climate science, is familiar with this university.

Yahoo has an excellent system to get it's pages on the hit list of Google and any other search engine.  Try google scholar and you'll find thousands of hits referencing University of East Anglia and global warming.
