It seems ridiculous each and every car manufacturer are in race in selling high speed vehicle ? I wonder whether any Laws or regulations will ever be implemented to stop such high speed vehicles. If there is no speed vehicles on road there may not be any accidents, overtaking. People can venture out much before time to reach their destination. At the most 50mph to 60mph is quite sufficient to reach if we move out in time. If this type of question with suggestion to be raised or not.

We should know basically we are not venturing in outer space or any of the galaxies to explore, we are just on the roads driving for our necessity either to reach Office,College,

Schools, Visiting Orphanage,Aged for homes,Church any anywhere. We too have to reduce our speed since our age is Limited we cannot lie for ever. Answer me in a positive and goodwill manner ?

  1. yh so true thats why most of the accidents happen overspeeding.

Should be banned on all cars.

  2. There are some fast cars which are not yet street legal. But there are some fast cars that are street legal. For example: The Audi R8, Jaguar XK, Mazdaspeed3, Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class, etc. I know how it is, but what you've asked is why they prevent over speeding. Make sure you have to maintain speed for safety. As possible when you saw a speed limit, set to the lowest than the speed limit possible.

In Japan, many people drive at 300kmh on the highway. So no law was broken, I think...

  3. As we all know, Germany has Autobahns.  Germany's Autobahns are the safest freeways in the world, with average speeds above 120 mph.  For ten years, from 1986-1996, the death toll on Germany's freeways was virtually identical to the much more congested American freeways.  From 1996-present, the death rate has dropped virtually every year in Germany, while it has risen here.  The problem is not high speed.  The problem is driver safety.

The cost of a drivers license in Germany approaches $2500.  It is a lifetime license.  It requires 45 hours of in-car training, along with a substantial written exam.  Safe traffic laws in Germany are strictly enforced by the most professional Highway Patrol Department in the world.  German Troopers take cash fines at the time of the traffic stop, and the rate of corruption is zero.  The most oft received traffic citation in Germany?  Driving in the left lane.  On the Autobahns, the left lane is STRICTLY used for passing.  No one crawls along in the left lane, like is done in the states, below the speed limit holding up traffic behind.

Now the case can be made that German cars are designed from the ground up for speed, handling, and safety.  This is true, however every vehicle on Germany's roads must pass the TÜV inspection every two years.  This is an incredibly difficult inspection to pass, with vehicles failing inspection for the simplest reasons.

I have been a field service engineer for a textile service company for over ten years.  I drive an average of 100,000 miles per year.  I have never had an accident.  I have driven in Mexico, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Germany, Indonesia, and Pakistan.  Speed is not the problem.  Drivers are the problem.  The U.S. does not have the worst drivers in the world, by a long shot.  However, the U.S does have the greatest amount of bad drivers, which when multiplied by their accidents, creates quite a case for lowering the speed limit on U.S. highways.  I state again - speed is not the problem in this country.  I have seen more horrendous and tragic accidents than most of you will ever have the misfortune to see in the U.S., and I can tell you that the vast majority of these accidents are caused by two things: drivers not paying attention to driving, and driving after or while drinking.

The worst accidents are caused by aggressive drivers.  Rather than lower the speed limit, raise the attentiveness limit.  Stop eating in your car.  Stop applying makeup.  Stop reading the newspaper, the books, stop playing video games behind the wheel.  And for heavens sakes get off the cell phone.  For everyone, but particularly younger drivers, absolutely positively no text messaging behind the wheel.  No email replies.   The reason German drivers are the safest in the world is because when a German driver climbs into his vehicle, he is there to drive.  When American's began requesting of German car makers cupholders in the cars, the Germans were flabbergasted.  Cupholders?  Why?  Who would be drinking in their car?  That's the mindset American drivers need to have.

We need to focus on driver education in this country.  There's a reason the U.S. Department of Transportation won't release the figures on how much revenue is made through speeding citations.  Educated guesses put it at well over one billion per year.  The focus is on revenue for the state, not driver safety.  This is ludicrous to me, and should be to you.

Number one should be driver education, once again.  Even if I have to pony up some cash for a license, I'll gladly do it knowing that the average idiot is not driving alongside me.  Folks I've seen people hanging dead outside their car window with a cell phone still clutched in their hand.  Speed isn't the problem.  Drivers are the problem.

  4. there are some fast cars that were made by other country that are iiligal to the united states

  5. Yes , it is necessary. You invite lot of traffic accidents just for being too fast or too slow.

  6. 50 or 60 MPH? Yeah right. Most of the interstates outside of urban areas have a 70MPH limit, and often move at 80 to 90.

If you want to go slow, take a bus.
