  1. I saw the SAME one you're referring to at SAM'S CLUB for $200 LESS!  It's GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. 1080i is halfway between 720p and 1080p

Its not as good... if you do a lot of a gaming... you will be able to tell.

    I have a 1080p 40" plasma, its awesome.

Vizio... not sure about the brand... find out the expected panel life and it should be around 50,000 hours.

  3. Because the TV is only 50" and is 1080i, you will not be able to tell the difference in picture quality unless you sit inches from the screen.  The human eye cannot tell the immediate difference between 720p, 1080i or 1080p at a certain resolution and on screens smaller than 55".

Vizio is actually a lower end model on Plasmas and was built for those who couldn't afford for quality plasmas.  I have installed over 100 Ht systems and although Vizio is just so-so as far as picture quality and sharpness goes, if you shop around and look for Black Friday ads or closeouts, you can find higher model ends for the same price.  i would check out stores like Ultimate Electronics who normally have closeout sales all the time.

I have seen Samsung, Panasonic and Hitachi for around 1,000 on closeout sales, and since the new models are coming out in September, next month there should be great deals on this years models.

  4. Here is a 50" Vizio JV50P (progressive scan) rated at Consumers Report.Org

    Price: $1250

    CR's Take

This low-priced Vizio offers very good overall picture quality, though contrast could be a bit better. The set includes a 5.1-channel surround-sound audio system."

    81 - Highest score for 50" Plasmas

    72  - This TV

    56 - Lowest score
