Is the Washington DC neighborhood Brookland safe to live in?

If the neighborhood is partially safe, what areas are best?

Brookland, particularly close to the Metro station, is overall safe. I've included links below for the Washington Post's interactive Local Explorer (including crime map) and a neighborhood Yahoo listserv. It was one of the neighborhoods we first looked at when we were ready to purchase a house in the District.
