I think mainstream media potrays women as always s*x-seeking hence the big boob look seems preferred over the focus on their minds most of the time!

  1. I don't see what the mainstream media has to do with feminism-the media has rarely portrayed feminism as a positive movement-or women for that matter. In the 60's and 70's the media was the worst offender for displaying gender stereotypes-they constantly tried to mock feminists no matter what they did and let's face it-the way they displayed women in ads were awful. If anyone complained-they were laughed at. In the 80's and 90's the media has tried its best to declare feminism dead and has quoted women who are anti-feminists because it sells-they could care less about accurately portraying the feminist movement. There's still plenty of T&A displayed in ads but at least people actually complain about it now and companies sometimes even listen and pull their offensive ads.

Still today-the media likes to find a woman who will say something ridiculous and attributes it to feminists-as though the one woman that they found to say something crazy is a feminist and actually knows what feminism really is...this from a population that has people who believe in vampires and werewolves...yep-the woman on the street knows all..

  2. I do think that those feminists who campaigned against the commodification and constant use of womens bodies in every kind of media must be pretty depressed at how they have not managed to convince many women that getting your t*ts out because it will improve status/ income/ etc is actually counterproductive in the long run.

I have noticed that it is very common to see female p**n stars going on about how much they enjoy their work. Love your oppression, is how a traditional feminist would see that, and I agree with them. I find it nearly impossible to comprehend that a psychologically healthy woman would enjoy making p**n films on a regular basis.

  3. But if they portray women as small-breasted and independent, what man is going to pay attention long enough to even know what the product being sold is? That's at least half the television-watching population that they would lose.

  4. Women do not need liberation in the Western World.  Feminists need liberation from psychiatric pathology.

  5. I think the mainstream media potrays everyone as a sexual object. In reality, many modern women, such as myself, disagree with the Women's Liberation Movement. It's dead not because of the media, but because modern women don't feel the need to alienate men. The movement only exagerates gender differences, and reinforces negative female images. but that's just my opinion.

  6. Thus why I rare every watch TV, I find the way women are shown in the media sickening!

  7. TV is garbage.

    Play video games.

  8. TV is a cesspool, watch it selectively.  I find anything above PG 13 is often (not always) garbage.

  9. There is a difference between feminism and sexuality...

one is about the lie of power and where an individual woman perceives it to be, the other is about s*x! The media doesn't just protray women that way, they portray men as little more than nut scratching shag hunters... I know many men who while very sexual are also very intelligent and see women, no matter what they look like as interesting and they, just as myself, hate the media portrayal of this human race as little more than animals who hunt, shag or kill.

Women need to stop dieting to focus on what society really is about. That is where the power play truely lies.

feminists do not neccesarily hate men btw.

  10. I think the mainstream media portrays everyone, men and women, as s*x-obsessed imbeciles in an effort to match its audience.

    Turn off the TV.
