Question:

Is the Yahoo News Message boards shutdown politically motivated?

The coming one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina is a hot topic for racists on the boards (with good cause). Maybe Yahoo is embarrassed that they facilitate that kind of hate and pulled the plug on the boards.

There's always all sorts of conspiracy theories going around about the way Yahoo handles the news message boards, and they dont do very much to dispel.

  1. I'd be willing to guess Yahoo did it on purpose.

  2. http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/news/c...

leave a message, "FIX THE BOARDS"

  3. As a former Yahoo News Message Boardist...

yes it was politically motivated... but it may have been hacked

  4. They didn't pull the plug on them. The boards  and the trolls will be back soon.

  5. I suspect the security on the boards is not what it should be and some hacker screwed it up for all of us.

  6. they shut them down?  Good.  Too much c**p went on there.

  7. Well, it won't matter. People in real life are still saying all sorts of horrible things about the Black victims of Katrina, boards or no boards.

  8. IT'S THE LIBS! NO, IT'S THE CONS! MAYBE IT'S BOTH!

    Heh heh.....just kidding.

Personally, I think Yahoo should blow up their message boards and start completely over. You can't navigate between general subject areas on the news boards any more, and most of the articles don't show under those general groups.

  9. Actually, I think it's more incompetently motivated, if you get my drift.
