I am 19 years old. I am a full time student at Sac city Junior college. Unfortunately I live 60 miles away from my school and I am going through about 200 dollars in gas every week just trying to make it there. I would like to sell my gas guzzling truck in for a sport bike but I am unsure of which one to get. Is the R6 a good choice or should i go with a Honda or Suzuki?

  1. An R6 is neither a good beginner bike nor is it a good bike to reduce fuel costs even at 40mpg (which you will struggle to get on an R6 although you can get 45 that requires a smooth hand) you are still looking at 15 gallons for 5 x 120 mile return journeys. A smaller engined, more upright bike will offer better mpg, it will also save on consumables, insurance and be easier to learn on.

  2. No, to much power.

  3. No.  Look outside of this caliber of motorcycles for a beginner bike.

  4. R6 is a good bike but if its money u are worried about try to get a 500 just for the sake of ins. is so much cheaper but im not 1 to talk i sold my ninja 500 and got a zzr6 and never looked back R6 FZ6 or CBR6 they are so close in preformance it really comes down to looks and feel. Remeber its 120 miles round trip sitting on that bike

  5. basically is becomes a personal decision in the end.  Personally i enjoy hondas , suzuki's over yamahas, but to each his own.  I wouldn't advice just throwing away a car/truck and getting a bike. Yes it would save you considerably in gas but during the winter seasons and rain seasons (depending on your location) riding can become extremely dangerous.
