Is the abbreviation for Newfoundland NL or NF?

Sometimes I see one and sometimes the other.

I always thought it was NL; is NF a product of American ignorance?

An example: I went on NBA.com and it had a the Raptors listed as playing in Toronto, OT. OT???? I've lived in Ontario forever and I always write ON as my province, as does everyone else I know.

It's now NL because the name officially changed to Newfoundland and Labrador

It can get to be a pain when you're ordering things online. my fiance had a few things sent to the Netherlands the first few months after the changes.

The "new" abbreviation for Newfoundland (equivalent to ON for Ontario) is NL. (The old one, equivalent to Ont., was Nfld ... maybe people just get mixed up.)
