  1. Not at all.  Most jobs have someone who inspects the work or double checks it.  That doesn't mean the person doing the job is not doing it correctly, it's just a system to minimize correctable errors.

The facts are that most plays are not reviewed and, of the small percentage that are, very few are overturned.  This proves that the officials are doing their jobs correctly almost all of the time.  Truthfully, I never met a bigger bunch of perfectionists than football officials and the higher up in the system they go, the bigger perfectionists they are.

You are correct that on some calls, replay is not really necessary.  Especially in the last two minutes of a half the replay assistant will ask for a review of a call that may not be all that close, but is critical.  It's known as a PR review.

  2. They want to be 100% certain on every single call, because they get scored for their efficiency, and the best refs get to call the playoffs/super bowl games.

  3. i agree they over use the instant replay at times.  i saw one time they spent  about 5 mins trying to decide if a player fumbled  the ball out of bounds at the 43 or the 44.   there was no chamge of possession  issue or anything  it was if it was 2nd and 6 or 2nd and 8     to me thats nit picking

  4. yah i guess
