  1. The Air Force is more selective. The Army requires 31 on the ASVAB, the Air Force requires a 36. The Army will accept a GED, the Air Force requires a high school diploma. It is also easier for single parents to get in the Army and the Army will forgive much more past mistakes such as crimes and drug use.  To answer your question, yes Air Force deployments are shorter. The less risky part depends on the job specialty. Many Air Force folks are in support positions that would be less risky. But many Air Force troops like cops and convoy duty troops put themselves in danger every day they are depolyed. The Army will offer you a bigger sign on bonus, but the Air Force offers a better quality of life over the long term(ask an Army person about that) I'll just say that I have Army people come to my office daily asking if they can switch to the Air Force, and I have to tell them no. I have been in 15 years and can count on one hand the number of Air Force folks I know who switched to the Army. I meet lots of Army folks who wished they had joined the Air Force instead.

  2. the air force is harder...its supposed to be brains not brawn......is any job necessarily any easier than another..i dont think so..the air force you have to test to make the higher ranks..the army tends to make ranks higher...case in point my husband has 19 and a half years in he put E8 on in dec of 07 our really good friend has 17 and a half years in the army he put E 9 on in june...they are both fast burners in their career fields meaning most dont make the rank in that time frame....

  3. the AF standard are higher...and ive hear the AF basic is the easiest of them all...but i know the AF has the least amount of us casualties in this war
