you can only do the alt. education if you have already received your degree in another field. If you are just starting out and haven't grad. college, you need to do the full course work.

Yes and No. It is a simpler route for those who already have a degree. What you would spend in a 4 year college for a degree you can still get the certification for just a fraction of the cost. However, what you miss out is the total package of the education field. You'll miss out on techniques and theories which will help you a lot when you have you're own class. I went through an alt. program, and if I could I would have much rather gone through and studied education at a 4 year institute.

I have a co-worker who did that. She has a degree in another field and went back and got herself certified to be a teacher but she was an assistant teacher for 2 yrs, she had the experience with the classroom and the students, so it was good for her.
