Is the amount of Na(OH) in respect to amide in hydrolysis experience important ? ?

  1. Since one product of an amide hydrolysis is a carboxylic acid, it will be deprotonated by the NaOH, so there must be enough NaOH to neutralize all of the acid formed.  Usually more is used because the NaOH is also a catalyst for the reaction and will go faster if there is more hydroxide available.
