I want to book a hotel around the station "PTE DE

VANVES" in 15th rea Montparnasse, is that a safe area at night? Or I should stay near the Eiffel Tower area as a tourist? Please help. I need to book my hotel stay soon. Any other area recommanded (safe and close to the tourist area). Thanks !

  1. I think it is safe enough.

  2. Yes, quite safe.

However, I would recommand places in the 1st ,4th ,5th or 6th arrondissements  instead.

Montparnasse is on the south side of the city and the Eiffel Tower is on the West. The areas I suggest are right in the center.

You can, for example, walk, from the Eiffel Tower or MontParnasse to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Saint Chapelle, the Musee D'Orsay, the Cluny, the Pantheon, or the Centre Pompidou but its a fairly serious hike.

Of course Paris is compact and the bus and metro system are first rate so perhaps that's not that important.

The areas I suggest also have a very heavy concentration of dining and entertainment spots. Every place I routinely go is in one of those four arrondissements.

  3. Yes, absolutely. Mind you, always exercise the same common sense as in any other large city: avoid wearing expensive jewelry, carrying large amounts of cash on you, conspicuously calling attention to your being a tourist, etc. But I wouldn't worry too much. Paris is surprisingly compact by the way, so no matter where you stay (within or just outside of city limits), you're never all that far from major tourist attractions. Enjoy your trip!

  4. Porte de Vanves is on the "edge" R is right the center will bemore fun, walking distance everywhere and less hassle with late metros or buses
