  1. It might be.  There are seismic measurements that have tracked high altitude supersonic phenomenon.  There are photos that show characteristic smoke rings that might be produced by a pulse jet.

    But is there such a thing used as a spy vehicle or some other task?  Who knows.  It might have been a one-off prototype.

    One of the problems with the SR-71 is that it requires considerable maintenance after each flight.  About $1 million.  That's a powerful incentive to fund alternatives.

    In a democracy, even craft like these should be made public. If we're paying for it, then we need representation. For one thing, open projects are cheaper than black projects.  Secrecy is expensive.

  3. Probably. If not the Aurora, then there certainly are other types of secret spy craft that have not yet been disclosed to the public. It's just the way it always has been, the way it always will be, and the way it must be.
