  1. Think of it this way...

Plane runs into mountain. Pilot & co-pilot are toast. Folks in front get squished by folks in the middle, sitting over wings, which hold fuel tanks, which invariably burst into flames...into which the folks sitting in the rear get thrown into.

    Happy landings.

  2. Best place to be if plane goes into mountain, is nowhere near that mountain! I don't think it makes a great deal of difference where you sit if you're on the unfortunate plane, you don't often see large areas of them still intact with passengers still strapped into their seats, enjoying the movie, after a crash

  3. At least you get to the scene of the accident last...

  4. it really depends on the type of incident. for example a midair collision would not normally have any survivors but poor landing with an undercarriage failure can have  all surviving. between these two it varies . it is generally accepted that more survivors  have ben counted from seat at rear end ( tail) than anywhere else. second is next to wings ( strongest part) overall the worst factor is fire and if a heavily fuelled aircraft has a fire it can be fatal all round very quickly.

  5. Nahh...

Cause if the pilots a complete moron and does a tail-strike on takeoff.

    YOU'RE SCREWED!

  6. Over the wings on back.

  7. Yes.  Many statistics show that the safest place to be in any airplane accident is in the back.

Over the wing would be good, except that the majority of the fuel is there.

First class has the highest rate of death in an accident.  (but the meals are better)

    :)

  8. I think its the best. ^^

You get first dibs on the food trolley.

Plus theres no-one kicking your seat from the back.

And you could be first off, if they open the end door. (:

  9. Usually, the tail follows the nose, just a fraction of a second later.

In case of accident, the best place is an aisle seat, withing five rows of an emergency exit. That is because airplane fires (which are very rare occurrences) are slightly more frequent than crashes (which are extremely rare occurrences).

You actually take more risks driving to and from the airport than flying.

  10. normaly the tail takes less impact but allot get burnt threw with backflash

  11. You never hear of survivors after a plane crash into a mountains either.

    Well not often.

So I guess the best place would be to stay at home.

  12. If it hits the ground after dropping from 35000 feet it is not going to make any difference where you sit, you will be shaking hands with your maker!

Statistically, you are far more likely to die in your own car or crossing a road than you are in an aircraft. When every now and then you read about an aircraft crash just consider all the hundreds of thousands of uneventful flights every day.  No drama, no news. No newspaper ever says "today 172000 aircraft accross the world did not crash" do they. Good news is not news.

  13. Ever hear of a plane backing into a mountain?

  14. If it hits a mountain you might as well be sat on an engine. Dead is dead.
