  1. Do not use the letters N or E  at the end of the decimal coordinates.  Just enter the numbers.  9.9000, 76.7170.  Some maps like Mapquest use negative numbers instead of N,S, E, or W.  Use Google maps instead.

  2. It is Thodupuzha in Kerala(40km east of Kochi city), India is right?

    What is it that's gone wrong?

  3. It would be important to use the proper format of latitude and longitude for your software.

    Some are of the format: nnº nn'nn.n" where the fields are degrees, minutes, seconds, and tenths of a second (respectively).

    Some are of the format of nnºnn.nnn' where the fields are degrees, minutes, and fractions of a minute (respectively).

    Or.... you can have lat/long in the format that you have given which is in decimal degrees. You can either find a conversion calculator online or you can convert it yourself based on understanding.

    The whole number is always the degree... so 9.9000N is 9º N with 0.9000 of a degree left over. A whole degree is taken as 60 minutes. So 0.9*60 = 54' exactly.

    Therefore =>

    9.9000N = N 9º54'00.0" = N 9º54.000'

    For 76.7170E... 76º with 0.7170 left over.

    0.7170 * 60 min = 43 min with 0.02 left over.

    0.02 * 60 sec = 1.2 sec.

    Therefore =>

    76.7170E = E 76º43'01.2" =  E 76º43.020'

    To verify that your values are correct but you just don't know how to use them .... those coordinates are near the southern tip of the mainland of India.
