Is the birth certificate I have enough?

When my child was born a few years ago I filled out the application for a birth certificate in the hospital and was told it would take 4 months to receive. It came and went and I didn't even notice until 6 months or so. I called the state and of course you can't talk to a human being. I ordered a copy from the vital records department but it's an 8 x 11 piece of paper. It isn't a little card like the one most people have. Will this be enough for school enrollment and other things or do I need to go back to the drawing board and get another one.

yes it should be fine for things like that. Some birth certificates come that way and some come as small cards...as long as it has all the proper information on it and has the state approved stamp or seal on it then it should do the job...you can always go to the health department in your state and ask an actual person(since you really never can talk to a human being on the phone) how to go about getting a regular birth certificate instead of a piece of paper.

As long as it has the official seal of the state and is not a photocopy, you should be fine.

Mine was a little half a sheet of paper that had ever single detail of my birth. The doctors who were there, my eye color at birth, weight, head size, my parents age when I was born, and so on.

When I gave birth to my son I looked at the birth certificate that is also on an 8 x 11 sheet of paper. All his says is his full name, my hubby and I's names, the date, time of his birth. That is it. I had the same concern as you, and when I went down to the court house in my county they said that that was how a lot of states do it now a days. Hmmmm?

The town your child was born in..at the court house..

they have a department of vital statistics.. that is where you can get it.needs to be notarized

Mine is that size and one of my son's is.  So I would say yes.

yes that is the size i have and it worked for my daughter. if it has the seal it will work.
