Is the blu-ray player in the PS3 the same quality as a stand alone player?

I am upgrading my home theatre around "Black Friday" and want to add either blu-ray or a PS3. My concern is that the player in the PS3 is of lesser quality than an acutal blu-ray player

  1. The quality is exactly the same.  Just make sure you use an HDMI cable to hook the PS3 up your HD TV.  In addition to playing Blu-Rays and standard DVDs, PS3's can play games (PS3, PS3, and PS1), videos (from your camera or computer), and you can store all of your music on it like an ipod.

  2. Video and Audio Quality wise, there is absolutely no difference. The PS3 is one of the best, and it is also the most capable Blu-ray Player. It is Profile 2.0 compatible, and it has a really fast loading speed. The build-quality and noise is top-notch as well.

The only things "bad" about it would be no analog-out for audio. However, it does have HDMI and Optical-Out for audio.

  3. it's the same thing as far as I know.

  4. No...simple as that.

  5. It's the same as any other blu-ray player really: same quality and outputs as the lower end ones. It just happens to be a console too.
