We are having an afternoon garden wedding ceremony, and reception is at a town hall. Most guests are also invited to both ceremony and reception.

Do people usually toss the bouquet at the end of the ceremony or the reception?

  1. It's usually about halfway through the dance, just before the break for late lunch. Ours was about 10:30 I think.

  2. I have been to one that the bride waited until they were getting ready to leave to toss the bouquet, and it was done out side as they were heading for the car.

  3. Generally near the end of the party, it is kinda a passing of the torch ceremony, give the bouquet to the next one in line. Shortly after that is the garter ceremony.

It would be cute to just hand the bouquet to someone in need of a little luck to find a great guy.  Great if it is a bridesmaid, even better if that bridesmaid is your sister. Hand her the bouquet, and say "I am so happy this day, I have a great husband, and I wish the same for you."

Sorry that you do not have the room to toss the bouquet, but will be ok. Congrats!

  4. It can be either one or just as the bride and groom leave for their honeymoon.

  5. i have only seen them thrown at the reception.  i think they only throw them at the wedding in movies.  stand on a table and throw the bouquet !!!!!  that would be cute.  good luck

  6. Hi.  I have never seen the bouquet toss at the ceremony.

Are you NOT having dancing because of your limited space at the reception venue?  (i.e., "we need all the room in the hall for the guest dining tables.")

So....hmmm....where is the ceremony?  Is it in a church or another location?  Wherever it is, I guess you could go outside and then do the bouquet toss.  Again, I have never seen it this way.

Where I live....we eat...cut cake...have the toasts....daughter/dad dance....son/mother dance....bridal party dance....then more dancing....then about 1/2 through the reception the garter toss and the bouquet toss.

You can, of course, always eliminate this (bouquet toss) from your reception entirely.  There is nothing set in stone saying you must have it.

  7. You do the cutting of the cake. Then while the waitresses are cutting up the cake for the guests, you toss the garter and bouquet.

  8. I thought it was done at the end of the ceremony, like when you are just about to leave the church (or wherever) and get into your car. Throw the bouquet, get in and go! :) Thats what I thought, might be wrong though!

  9. you have the bouquet toss at the reception, usually the garter and bouquet toss are the last 2 organized things that are done... then it is party!  if a reception starts at 5, dinner at 6, then the garter / bouquet would be around 8:30 or 9
