Question:

Is the burton king 167 big enough for me?

I am tall (6'7) 195 lbs with a size 15 foot. I am looking into buying my own board and bindings and was looking into the burton king. The width of the 167 is 26.5. Is this wide enough for my feet? Also what size bindings do I need to get because burton only makes bindings up to large. Do I need to go with a different brand of bindings or will the large burtons do ok?

  1. Don't think that you have to have Burton gear.  Look at other brands.

Look for boards that come in "Wide".  Look at other bindings too.  I think that some bindings come in XL.

Measure up to your chin or nose from the ground (in cm).  That should be a good size board.

  2. a 167 is a huge board.  you could probably get away with something alot smaller, boards don't go by how tall you are, its how much you weigh.  your only 195 you could probably get away with something around the 157 to 162 range.  and don't just look at Burton, buy something else that's more affordable.  all you have to do is go to your local snowboard shop and have them set you up.  they know what there doing, they can put together the right set up for whatever kind of riding you will do.  don't think that going with an expensive pro model board is going to help your boarding, get something that is a good beginner board and after a few seasons you can move into something better.

  3. That board sounds too big - I think at 195lbs you would only be riding a 161 to 163 board depending on what type of rinding you do.

I would recommend a Ride Fleetwood board (much cheaper than Burton and just as good) with a binding that has a built-in riser to give you more heel / toe clearance.

    Good Luck

  4. The board is probably okay.  If you have a problem with bindings not being big enough, try step ins with a rear support.
