I am not a young kid with a school paper. I have been hooked on caffeine and have gone 7 days cold turkey and was wondering about just how profitable the industry is, considering there are so many caffeine addicts.

  1. YES, MORE PEOPLE ARE QUITING SMOKING.

  2. Just how many large law suit settlements and actions against BIG TOBACCO by just about every State and Local government has there been against the (Coffee) Caffeine Industry as you put it.  This is a no brainer.

I always get the feeling on most of these questions, that someone has a school paper to write and is looking for the easy way out to get it done.  If my conclusions are wrong, I apologize.

  3. It is really hard to define the "caffeine industry" since members can include starbucks to redbull to jolt energy gum. For that reason, if you want to look at pure profit, I would assume that the many products that contain caffeine combined, are raking in more money than big tobacco.

I think it is interesting that you compare the two at all, since caffeine is a largely unregulated product and tobacco is a largely regulated product. In addition, they are to some extent compliments of each other. I would imagine a large number of tobacco users also use caffeinated products.
