  1. You make it sound like territoriality is exclusively male. Perhaps you should study more zoology.

  2. Women actually utilize our capitalist system moreso than men, but yes, the construct is originally male.

Pretty much everything in our society is a male construct, since alot of the stuff in today's society dates back to before women had the oppurtunity to succeed and invent and have jobs.

Louise: I like your choice of words :P Indubitably

  3. Yes. Women are more likely to share because sharing recognizes what women are already aware of. We are connected. We are interdependent. We must work together in order to thrive. Conciliation, connectedness, community, family, these are feminine values and ways of being that arise from the understanding of motherhood. Even women who are not mothers can still identify with these values. Little girls are able to maintain their connection to their mother and to continue identifying with her values and ways of being while little boys are not.

Little boys are separated from their mothers and taught to cut off their inner femininity in order to be a "real man." Boys are taught the values of competition and self interest and told that these values are superior to sharing, connectedness, community, and interdependence, which are portrayed by macho culture as "weak" values. This is why more men than women support war, competition, self-interest, and winner-take-all economic systems. Men become "real men" by denying and belittling their connectedness, and interdependence with all things.

Certainly women are guilty of colluding in the competitive system of capitalism, but women were not given any choice in the matter. If they wanted to feed their children they were forced to support their husband's economic activities. Slowly, as women gain and utilize their abilities to create and structure society along womens' terms, we will see greater emphasis on holistic, interdependent economic systems.

In fact, this is the most important reason for the continuation of feminism. Earlier movements were about ensuring ethical and legal rights for individual women. This movement is still needed in various places, but in Western countries feminism needs to focus its attention on making a better world for everyone. This is done by bringing feminine values and ways of being into balance with male values and ways of being. If we are to survive as a species, we will have to learn to balance our self interest with our common interests. Attention to one, without the other, leads to inevitable destruction and extinction.

  4. Indubitably yes! As a socio-political ideology Capitalism is a male construct. However, women do collude and are complicit with the system.

Historically, it is only in more recent times that women have not been described in law as a man's property...divorce laws for example were ratified in the 60's.  Women were not allowed to own any property in their own right until well into the late 19th early 20th century.

And lets face it, the greatest critique of western Capitalism written by Karl Marx hardly presented an equitable gendered analysis.

And criticism of these meta theories such as Capitalism is about society as a whole not subjective anecdotes.
