Is the career architecture just to build buildings?

When i mean building i meant designing them,but what else do they do.

  1. Architects can design anything--from a building to the furniture right down your trashcan.  They design cars and telephones.  Have you seen the Phillip Stark collection at Target?  He's an architect.

    Architects are to architecture what doctors are to medicine.  To be an architect or a doctor, you need extensive schooling, a period of internship, and rigorous testing to earn a license.  Because of all the time and effort, most architects decide to design buildings just like most doctors decide to practice medicine--but there are other creative and technical things that can be done by both.

    Architecture as a field, however, usually refers specifically to buildings.  


  2. They also design refurbishments, renovations, extensions etc. to existing buildings.  Some architects specialise in the conservation of historic buildings.

  3. Architecture trains architects to design structures. Building them is more for the construction workers
