  1. Yes, the Ecstasy is a good ship.  She is older and smaller than the HUGE ships that are new, but she has been refurbished and in good shape.

I have sailed the Fantasy, and had an absolute blast!  There is plenty onboard for your daughter to do (you didn't mention her age)...but there are many activities.  Or, just lounge around and enjoy!  When are you thinking of going?

If you would like some further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.  I am a Carnival Specialist and am able to answer your questions!

  5. Is it your first cruise? We did Ecstacy a year ago and loved it.

It is a cookie cutter ship so entertainment and style are the same as their other ships in that fleet. For our first cruise is was great. We did Paradise in Jan and got board. All the same games and floor plan. Food on ecstacy was better.

  6. We took 19 guests on a family reunion aboard the Ecstasy.

She is an older, smaller ship but she has been refurbished and is still very nice.   Since she is a smaller ship, you do feel the motion a bit more than on the larger Conquest that also leaves out of Galveston.

Progresso is a fun port because it is not as "touristy" as the other ports.  You can get some great deals shopping in the port shops and the open air market.

There are a ton of things to do in Cozumel.  We enjoyed the dolphin experience, submarine ride but our favorite has been the Cavern by Jeep tour.  You take the ferry to Playa del Carmen, hop in jeeps and drive to an underground river.  You get to swim in the river and then back into the jeeps to a private beach with an authentic Mexican lunch!  It was great fun!

Notables about Port of Galveston and Ecstasy-

    - Parking is $10 per day per car

    - Plan to arrive in the early hours of boarding.  It can be a zoo trying to drop off luggage and park the car.

    - Take some of those XXXL Ziploc bags for wet clothes

    - Carry on your valuables and anything you wan/tneed before midnight.  It takes a while to get your luggage on Day 1.

    - Soda is $1.75 per can or you can buy a Soda Fountain card for about $35 for the week.

    - Photos are $20

    - Bingo cards $5-10

    - Spa services - $50-200

    - Shore excursions $50-200 per person

    - Take plenty of $1, 5 and 10s for shopping in the open air markets and taxis and tipping shore excursion staff.

    - Tips are $10 per day per person and Carival adds the tips to your on-board account the momemt you step on board.

    - Your on-board account can be linked to a credit card or you can set up a cash account.  My sister uses a cash account so she does not over spend because it is so easy just to slide your card and then you get sticker shock at the end of the trip.

Check out www.vacationstogo.com for good deals.

Check out the Conquest.  She gives a better ride and is a better overall experience.
