Is the catamora surname a Japanese descendant? how?

  1. "Catamora" itself is not a Japanese surname.  Two reasons I can point out;

    1. Japanese words do not start with "ca", they would rather spell it as "ka" - which makes it "Katamora" instead.

    2. Now, another point is that there are no Kanjis (Chinese characters) that has sound "mora" in Japanese (i.e. there is no such word as "mora") as far as I know.  They do have "mura" though, which stands for a "village", and is quite often used for people's surnames.

    So, perhaps it came from Mr. Katamura?  That is only IF it's descendant of Japanese though...


  2. Do a search on the web, everyone has a cousin that they haven't seen in years who has done some of the research already. in a search engine type in

    (your last name)+genealogy

    you can also try

    (your last name)+family
