Is the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel still working ?

There have been no reports of rockets being fired into Israel for the last week. On the other hand the blockade of the Gaza strip has not been lifted. Seems and odd sort of deal when only Israel benefits ?

  1. Does it matter? They'll  be at each other's throats soon enough. I would question whether they want peace or whether they attain a perverse sense of pleasure by continuing to fight. And that goes for both sides.

  2. Hamma has not received it's mail order shipment of new weapons and ammunition. Israel is enjoying the peace and quite for as long as it lasts. Many troops took a holiday.

  3. It's helpful to expand one's knowledge  of the region. Vary your source material. Such "questions" merely repeat the standard diatribes available on hate sites.

For example, what have you read about the fact-finding mission of Sir John Troutbeck,  head of the British Middle East office in Cairo after the British mandate ended? He was not known as a friend to Israel or the Jews. Troutbeck was sent on a mission to Gaza in June 1949 . To his surprise, he realized that although Gazan Arabs evinced

"no bitterness against the Jews . . .  they speak with the utmost bitterness of the Egyptians and other Arab states.

'We know who our enemies are,' they will say, and they are referring to their Arab brothers who, they declare, persuaded them unnecessarily to leave their homes. . . . I even heard it said that many of the refugees would give a welcome to the Israelis if they were to come in and take the district over."

There's so much to understand in order not  to come across as a brainwashed, superficially informed individual.
