  1. shortboards arent easy at all. the pop up is really hard and you have to pump for speed if you want to carve and keep the wave that youre on, unless its something like doubble overhead. but i suggest getting a 6'6" fish. great paddling and turning and performs like a shortboard. hope this helps. have fun surfing!

  2. Stick to a bigger board or fish unless your are surfing waves over 4 foot.

  3. I like the board, it is very versatile, and is a available is slightly larger sizes (up to 7'6"). it's not out of the question that a novice could learn to ride it. However, I have no idea where you surf, how good you really are, or how big you are (or how much you have left to grow). So my best advice is take this question to a local surf shop at the beach(es) where you surf. Those folks will know the local break, and help fit your size and skill level and the local conditions, and give you better advice than ANYBODY on line can.

I have been surfing for 42 years, and I take questions like this to the experts in the surf shops where I surf.
